Industrial Explorer Leicester & Loughborough 25th - 28th September 2025 Led by Sue Constable Click here to register interest ![]() Foxton Locks & Inclined Plane Image: Canal & River Trust |
This autumn’s Explorer will be to Leicestershire where we hope to visit Leicester, Loughborough and Market Harborough looking at the many and varied industrial and transport enterprises in the area.
Leicester is perhaps best known for hosiery and knitted goods but was also home to a significant shoemaking industry and various engineering companies. Loughborough was the home of Ladybird Books and a famous bell foundry as well as several engineering works. We hope to be able to include a visit to Taylor’s Bell Foundry on Friday and to Foxton Locks on Saturday. Click here to register interest in joining the tour.
